Colorado floods 2013 rescue videos: CH-47 Chinook Helicopter airlifts 85 schoolchildren, animals to safety; soldiers driving through flooded areas to rescue residents and animals; raging Colorado flood waters video



Colorado floods rescue scene on Sept. 14, 2013: A CH-47 Chinook Helicopter from the 2nd Battalion, 4th Aviation Regiment out of Fort Carson, Colorado conducting evacuations of Jamestown residents. Video includes a CH-47 Chinook landing in Jamestown, Colorado, picking up children (from Callwood School who were stuck in Jamestown following an environmental over-night trip), Helicopter crews picking up stranded residents, aerial shots of the Jamestown area, and helicopters dropping off personnel at the Boulder Municipal Airport.

The Colorado Office of Emergency Management is providing the latest updates as of Sept. 16, 2013:

Colorado Flood Information Statewide
  • Nine counties and five city Emergency Operations Centers are activated.
  • Flood conditions are spread across the Front Range across 15 counties including: Boulder, El Paso, Larimer, Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Denver, Fremont, Jefferson, Logan, Morgan, Pueblo, Washington, and Weld counties. This are is almost 200 miles from north to south.
  • Fatalities: 5
  • Reported Missing: 1,253 (approximate and changing throughout the day - local counties have most current numbers)
  • Evacuated Persons: 11,750
  • Shelter Population Total: 528
  • Shelters: 26 Shelters open
  • Residential Structures: 17,494 damaged | 1,502 destroyed
  • State Emergency Operations Center is operating at 24 hours at Level I
